About

The University of Victoria’s undergraduate Biomedical Development team is comprised of students from multiple engineering and science disciplines. BEST provides students with hands-on experience designing and prototyping a medical grade device with commercial and competitive applications. Team members gain knowledge of the professional and biomedical industry, providing them with a competitive edge when it comes to landing co-op jobs and networking with members of the industry.

A large portion of the time will be put towards doing research to find the best solution to the problem at hand. Students are also able to apply their skills to different disciplines of biomedical engineering allowing them to gain an understanding of the career opportunities available. Members will also work with doctors, nurses, care givers and first responders to gain knowledge in problems being faced in the medical community and learn how these may be solved.

The field of biomedical engineering connects engineering to medicine and biology. The field includes  medical devices, tissue engineering, and prosthetics which opens up many doors for design opportunities.

All members of the team are volunteers and do not receive academic credit but rather would like to show their passion for the field of biomedical engineering. If you would like to be part of the team or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
